Political assassinations increase in Burundi

Burundi is edging closer to the brink of chaos after another politically charged assassination.

Unidentified men killed an opposition party official on Wednesday in an attack that used firearms and grenades, according to witnesses and colleagues of the victim.

Burundi has experienced widespread violence since April when President Pierre Nkurunziza announced he was seeking a third term, which critics say is illegal under the constitution.
