Zambian police invest $15.5 million in DNA technology

In an effort to combat a rise in violent crimes, Zambia is turning to science and investing in state of the art DNA tracking and analysis for its security agencies.  

President Edgar Lungu’s government recently unveiled a DNA analysis machine at Police Headquarters in Lusaka, adding that the machine is just part of a nearly 15.5-milliuon US dollar commitment to bring Zambian police technology into the modern age.

Part of the funding will also help construct a National Forensic Laboratory in Lusaka West, which should be completed in the next 35 months.
