$100,000 reward issued for German man fighting with Al Shabaab

Just a day after Kenya announced that a British citizen had been killed while fighting for the Al Qaida linked group Al Shabaab, Kenyan police are announcing a $100,000 reward for the capture of a German national accused of taking part in an Al-Shabab attack on Sunday.

Andreas Martin Muller, who goes by Abu Nusaybah, is accused of being one of the gunmen who attacked a military base in Lamu County last week.

Two Kenyan soldiers and eleven Al-Shabab fighters died during the assault.

Briton Thomas Evans, was one of those killed during the fighting.

The reward is part of a police campaign known in Kiswahili as Kaa Chonjo Usinyamaze ("Be alert, Don't Keep Quiet"), which was launched to combat the threat of jihadists.
