Nigeria recalls senior diplomats from South Africa over attacks on immigrants

Nigeria is recalling its top diplomats in South Africa because of "ongoing xenophobia targeting foreigners.”

At least seven people have been killed since the xenophobic attacks began three weeks ago in South Africa.

Nigeria's ambassador in Pretoria and consul general in Johannesburg are returning to Nigeria for consultations, according to a government statement.

Nigerian legislators have called for the South African government to pay damages and a Nigerian rights group has complained to the International Criminal Court.
