More Al Shabaab suspects arrested in Kenya for planning mall attack

Police have arrested six men suspected to be Al Shabaab operatives planning an attack on a shopping mall in Nairobi.

The target was T Mall near the Mbagathi-Langata road roundabout.

T-Mall at Mbagathi-Langata roundabout was the alleged Al Shabaab target

Police recovered drawings of T Mall at an apartment on Magharibi Place along with other items possibly linking the men with Al-Shabaab.

The Anti-Terrorist Police Unit (ATPU) is holding the suspects whilst they conduct further investigations.

Reports suggest that one of the men was a tenant in the apartment and used to bribe the guards to allow the other five suspected Al Shabaab operatives into the building.

Unconfirmed reports indicate that authorities acted on a tip from the father of one of the men arrested who had reported to police that Al Shbaab had recruited his son.
