Islamic
extremists have beheaded at least five people in eastern Democratic Republic of
Congo.
Officials
blame the attack on Ugandan Islamic extremist rebels from the Allied Democratic
Forces (ADF), a militia believed to have killed more than 260 people in the
final three months of last year, mostly with knives and machetes.

The latest attack happened in the Mbau area,
which is approximately 30 kilometres from Beni, a large town in North-Kivu province.
The victims were killed as they were going to work in the field’s morning.
At least one survivor managed to escape and alerted the army.
A local NGO on the ground expects the death toll to rise and said the army has
begun finding more bodies.
