British
Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond says the UK is speaking with Kenyan
authorities to review its travel advisory to that country, all while dealing
with rising terrorism across East Africa.
In
September last year, the UK relaxed the travel advisory to Nairobi apart from the
Eastleigh neighbourhood, which has been home to most Nairobi attacks. However, Britain
has since maintained it’s warning regarding Mombasa and towns bordering
Somalia.
Kenya's
Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohamed has complained the travel
advisory is hurting Kenya's tourism sector, which is essential to the economy.
The two
were speaking while signing a Memorandum of Understanding between the Kenya
National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI) and Industry and the British
Chamber of Commerce-Kenya (BCCK).
