South Sudan President Salva Kiir reported to be preparing public address

According to Ateny Wek Ateny, Press Secretary in the Office of the President, Salva Kiir is expected to make a public address any time soon.

However the date or time of the address is still unknown.

President Kiir has not made such an address since alleging that the fighting, which erupted on December 15th, was the result of an attempted coup.

Former Vice President Riak Machar, who is leading a rebellion against Kiir and forces loyal to him, has always denied the allegation of plotting, and the US Department of State publicly announced that "it had seen no evidence of a coup."
