Warrior sources on the ground expand on last week's violence:
Last week on 9th April a UN convoy was ambushed on the Pibor to Bor road in Jonglei State.
Early reports suggested that 5 UN peacekeepers, 2 UNMISS national staff and 5 civilian contractors were killed with a further 9 wounded.
Local indications imply that the attack was perpetrated by a rebel group led by David Yau Yau, although this has yet to be confirmed.
This is the latest in a series of incidents in Jonglei State. It is an area of frequent tribal conflict mostly concerning cattle raiding between Nuer and Murle tribes. The Nuer recently announced that only the annihilation of the Murle tribe would ensure the security of their cattle.
The SPLA have tried to execute several disarmament campaigns in the state but have been met with steady resistance, often violent, from the local population.
In December a UN helicopter was accidentally shot down killing all 4 of its Russian crew.
