Violent protests erupt in Dar es Salaam

Violent protests erupted near a bus park in the Ubungu area of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania today.

Police and soldiers were deployed after mobs of people began burning tires, setting up makeshift roadblocks and attacking several vehicle drivers in the area.

Witnesses on the ground reported to Warrior Security that security forces fired teargas to disperse the crowd of protesters. There were also some reports of live bullets being shot into the air as well.

It’s believed the protest is related to striking passenger bus drivers’ labour action.
