Juba curfew as South Sudan President Salva Kiir Mayardit sacks entire cabinet

State media in South Sudan last night announced that President Salva Kiir Mayardit has fired all his ministers and deputy ministers, along with Vice President Riek Machar Teny. No reason has yet been provided for the cabinet reshuffle.

As at this moment only Police elements have been deployed on the streets of Juba and a complete curfew was in force by 1600 hrs today. Up until that moment the city was reported relatively quiet and the airport operating as normal.

Gun fire was reported in the area of Konyo Konyo market with no reports of casualties.

All Warrior deployments remain in place despite movement restrictions. The Warrior Control Room is manned 24/7 and further updates will be reported as events unfold.
